About Untold Journey
Founded in 2024, the Untold Journey Foundation was formed to become the premier retreat for Tier One Special Forces which include the East Coast SEAL Teams, Delta Force, Rangers, MARSOC operators and the Joint Inter-Agency Task Force. Untold Journey is the name of the Hostage rescue mission conducted in 2012 in Qarghah’i District of Laghman Province, Afghanistan, by the then “New Gold 2-troop” that was formed after Extortion 17, the single greatest loss of life to Naval Special Warfare history. This newly formed troop that formed from this tragedy went on to become one of the most highly decorated Special Operations missions in United States history resulting in a Medal of Honor and five Navy Crosses, and many more. Master Chief Edward Byers became the sixth Navy SEAL from SEAL Team 6 to receive the Medal of Honor for his courageous actions. This same operation resulted in the loss of teammate Nic Cheque. UTJ Foundation was founded in his honor.
